Hi there, apologies if this is the wrong section. I work for a company who is urgently looking for a company who do hosting for high volumn

About 1 terabyte a day?

Thank you

Cathy

How much do you want to spend? That's all that matters really... Would definitely have to be a dedicated server and would cost an uber amount p/m I should think.

I use Vidahost for my personal stuff but take a look at something like this

http://www.vidahost.com/dedicated.php

for their dedicated stuff. It gives you a sort of price guide.

Might want to get more informed opinions though - this is a small hoster.

Check out Rackspace.co.uk and ask them for a quote.

One thing we forgot to ask - where is the biggest clientele? I mean if this is aimed at a global audience, or those mainly in the US, a US based host might be preferred no? Or if Europe, UK or German seem ideal.

Ah, then definitely UK host. German might be ok, but I would think UK is better if a small US audience is intended.

1TB/day is only 100mbit. I have a server that does that on a celeron (shoutcast). If you just want to serve static content then you really dont need any special hardware. Try leasweb they charge around 500euros for a 100mbit port and basic server. May be worth considering http://www.ipdedicated.com. You may be able to cut a good deal with them if most of your traffic is from spain. try dropping them an email.

Unmetered?

Like has been said, what's required it depends on the type of traffic, as well as the amount. Something like a shoutcast server, like you have is not particularly CPU dependant, as opposed to this forum which I expect pushes nothing near to 100mbit requiring something pretty hefty to handle the database connections and all the various read and writes required of the disks.
