ok done.had to un-install the gigabyte controller drivers
doesnt make sence but it works :)

I seem to have this exact problem. Could you say exactly which steps you followed to resolve this please? I can't see the Gigabyte controller drivers in the Add/Remove programmes list.

Cheers

all i did was un-install the gigabyte drivers.before in device manager my 2 dvd drives would appear as scsii drives!!!.after i un-installed the gigabyte stuff it correctly reported them in the device manager.
didnt do anything else, just re-booted and everything was a-ok.am now getting really fast dvd encoding and copying speeds.
good luck :)

Thanks for the info.

What were the gigabyte drivers listed as in the add/remove programmes list? I can't see one that refers to IDE.
