Hiya,

At my gf's brothers house and he's put a pc together but the screen refuses to come on AT ALL.

I am supposed to be making the 300 mile drive home within the next two hours and I can't for the life of me figure out why the **** won't put anything to the screen.

The mobo is a Foxconn A690VM2MA

We have a single 2gig stick of ddr2 ram plugged into the 1st blue slot on the mobo and an am2 4600+ cpu installed. Power cable from psu is plugged into the mobo, monitor cable is plugged into the onboard gfx on back of mobo. EVERYTHING else is unplugged.

We are just getting no signal on the screen.

Anyone any ideas?

I've googled the mobo and can't find any info about it. The manual is a complete waste of the one massive sheet of paper it is printed on.

Please help!

Cheers,

G

Hello :)

First of all, has the monitor been used on anything else? Just so you know it actually works or not, but it's doubtfull to have a faulty monitor...It is possible though sadly.

Double check the motherboard power connections, so there should be one 4-pin, and then a 20/24 pin cable connected also.

Quick google, and it looks as if there is a speaker on the motherboard...So, take out the stick of RAM that is plugged in, and turn on the PC, you should start to hear Beeps, kinda long ones.

If you get beeps, try the RAM in every slot, if you don't...Then try re-seating the CPU, and repeat the above.

Also, I take it you have tried both of the Video outputs on the motherboard?

Clear CMOS.
Also - does your graphics card use a DVI connector? I had a dodgey one that gave no signal to my monitor.
I take it CPU fan, hard drives etc are whizzing away, 12v 4/8 pin power connected to mobo as well as the 20/24pin?

he hadn't connected the 4 pin power to the mobo :D

Took the psu out and spotted it hiding under there lol

It's working now :D :D :D

Althought the cpu fan seems to be spinning VERY slow...is this normal for this cpu?

Cheers,
