Urgent Overclocking Help Please?

And yes i have ordered a cooler master hyper 212 evo all i want is to acheive 4ghz nothing higher and have STABLE temps with 20 degrees-ish at idle and 50-60 degrees under load

even stock clocks the stock cooler will cry at any stress programs

buy a quality cooler like the k2 mount doom but make sure it will fit inside your case and your memory isn't too tall

then you can clock away to your hearts content

ahh the coolermaster 212 isn't bad either

What the **** i havent overclocked!?
Stock Cooler is on...
Turbo Boost is enabled

Those temps seem really high for a CPU that is not even overclocked on a stock cooler, with my i5-2500k Sandybridge I would expect to see mid 60s running at stock speed stock cooler. Something is not right unless I am very much mistaken.

Yes use a better cooler dont use pre set overclock profiles,

At best your overclock will work but maybe be overvolting your cpu (shortening it life and generating more heat).

At worst it will constanlty fail and BSOD all the time.

We have many Overclockers here who can and will help you do it the proper way.

Wazza is a good overclocker who helped me a lot im sure he can get you started.

Yup, I consider myself fairly experienced in the dark arts of overclocking. Have been overclocking for 14 years now and my first tentative steps into overclocking was running a Celeron 400mhz @ 450mhz which wasn't a massive overclock but got me hooked and haven't looked back and have been building overclocked machines ever since.

Although one thing I am not knowledgeable about is water cooling as I have only ever used air coolers.

Nice to meet you, nlel1975 its always nice to meet more experienced overclockers than myself thats why i like the forum all you have to do is ask and someone will be along to help the best they can :)
