Hey guys. Just recived my new 6800GS AGP stuck it in My PC and powered up. When I powered up i was greeted by a loud continuouse beep from either the internal speaker or somewhere else. Also the monitor does not display anything.

Whats happened?

No I have not removed the battery am going to do that now

Howerver I have just noticed something. I opened the Manual and on the first page it says "PCI Express Series" But on the Box it says AGP8, I ordered the AGP8 version of the card, is there anyway that it could be a PCI Express card they have sent me? and it's making the noice becaus eim putting the card into a AGP8 slot?

Going to put old GFX Card in now.

EDIT
Put olf GFX Card back in and reset BIOS and posts fine just like normal.

EDIT
Think I have found the problem, the card requires a molex connection thanks for that.

God Im thick

Ok now I hae another problem

The Computer starts fine I install the drivers and then set it up with resolution. When I change the resolution a sort of click noice comes from the GFX card, this does it with al GFX cards that I have had. Then when I next click the mouse the computer freezes and has to be restarted using the reset buttn on tower.

I have started it in sfae mode and tried to install drivers but that does not seem to work neither.

Can anyone shedsome light on what is causing it?

The screech of 6800's without their beloved electric juice is comparable to a newborn screaming in your ear through a megaphone.

Yes, it is.

Ok there is no GFX card drivers on my computer, I am going to install it again. But and the end of the installation it will freeze up.

Im starting to think if the card is too powerful for my PC. my current specs are:
CPU - P4 3.00 Prescott
MOBO - Asus PSX800S
RAM - 1GB OcUK

I doubt that a lot!

Could be your power supply not being upto it, what is fitted?

Ninja

Edit: also is the molex connector your using just powering the card or is it running another hardrive or somthing?

Its plugged into onefo my fans because I had to usea splitter.

Now im faced with this

I insta;led my old GFX card fine everything is dandy.

Took off those drivers, swapped GFX cards, installed drivers

Then half way through installing the drivers the screem freezes. I am leaving the PC for a while to see if it recovers.

Could this be a problem with the GFX card? If It's not sorted by thursday its going back.

400W Colorsit (It came with the case) Been working fine with all other components and has handled Overclocks.

It seems that the card reboots (if that is possible) when ever the resolution is changed or I try to install the drivers.

I'll try swapping the Molex connections around then see what happens.

could be that when you install the drivers that the gfx card is using more juice and so the PSU is tripping as you need more power, at a guess :)

I think that is what the problem was.

I changed the Molex connections over to one that was just powering the Lights on the front of the case. Had to turn off one of my Cathodes but I got some awesome GFX now, it's goin to be a big difference over my GeForce 5500 128MB

I think it is time to buy a new PSU and a new Fan controller. I'll make a new thread

Thanks for all the help, I can go and have a few beers now. Im not going to do any overclocking on there until I have a new PSU, and I have also brought my CPU Overclock from 3.2 to stock.
