Hello all.

A really quick word.

Purchased a 680i motherboard. got me a 8800gtx on the way.

Havnet got the ram.

Just caught a mate on the way of to the shops to sell his ram.

It is Crucial Ballistix 2x1gb PC8000 @ 5-5-5-15. Is this Ram worth £160 or not?

cheers

£160 for 2gb of PC8000 DDR2 ?

hell yeah

doesnt matter how well it clocks for that price.

You'll be lucky to find PC8000 for under £200 new.

only prob is that I dont know what I want..

Im not to knowledgeable on the Ram front.

Lets put it like this. I was happy to pay £123 earlier today for the Geil Pc6400 Stuff.

Is it worth the Extra £40 for this stuff.

Does he still have a PO and does the lifetime warrenty still stand?

If so then go for it, otherwise I'd be a little careful (lot of voltage goes through those 8000 modules)

purchase order

ie receipt

so you can proove to crucial you own the memory and didnt thief it off him :)

as for whether its worth the extra £40. Yes

Hello all. Cant get through to him.

I will purchase the ram of him on 2 conditions

1. It still has a warrenty.
2. It has some form of documentation.

here is a pic of the ram

One says you can barely oc it and the other says you can get 30% oc

The way I see it PC8000 is already stupidly fast you don't need anything fater than that anyway!

But first ask him why he is selling it.

Tbh the pc5300 Ballistix seems to have a 90% chance of doing pc8000 speeds at no looser than 5-5-5-15, usually 4-4-4-12.

I'd save your money and buy a brand new new pair of the pc5300 Ballistix.
