Okay, so when she boots up TF2 or Sims2 etc. Her PC malfunctions and she gets a BSOD, then we cannot turn on her PC for a while (She just started TF2 now, it crashed and we haven't been able to boot it since).

I have provided pictures for your enjoyment and maybe one of ya'll can help with a solution to this problem...

I think it's telling me something...(Safemode prompt)

I would say it's likely you have a component overheating, at a guess the graphics card. Try cleaning it out/reseating it, doublecheck with a second card if you can.

No, we have not touched the card at all, it just started doing this yesterday.

I took the case off and had a small clean, but I don't know enough about PC's to take it apart and do it properly, it was rather dusty in there to say the least though.

I will probably go through a proper clean through soon, once I know my way around of course. But at the moment I need some direction as to what the problem is and how to solve it if it can.

I did, and well, there's no reading on the GPU card :/ It's like it doesn't exist.

I tried downloading others but I cannot start the program as we can only run the PC in safemode :/

As you state you have cleaned your machine and you still can't boot in normal mode, it seems it might have caused permanent damage to your gfx card.

If you cant read the temps, it may explain why thermal protections weren't triggered because that would usually shut down the card to prevent damage like this from occuring.

Try testing the card in another PC.

I think you will need a new graphics card mate.

What gfx card has she got?

Since shes only playing TF2 and Sims2, you could probably just pick her a nice cheap gfx card for 30-40 quid from OC such as the Geforce 210 for instance.

No idea what it is, especially as I cannot see anyway :P

We are willing to spend up to £70-80 on a new one, I think she wouldn't mind a graphics boost on the games.

What one would be best to buy at that price? And would it just work for the PC.

Also, is there any other causes or problems the PC may have with the pictures shown? I don't want to spend the money for the problem to remain.

Would that just work with the PC? Would I need any additional hardware at all? I will find out the PC specs of hers exactly later this evening if there could be a problem with other hardware etc.

I have supplied pictures of said girlfriend to hopefully enable more support and help to my cause...

Anyway...

She has a AMD Athlon 64x2 processor that's running at 2.01 GHz
And 2 MIGHTY GB OF RAM!
GFX card is a 8500GT
PSU Is a Trust 570w Dual Fan.

I was going to see if I could get some compressed air and see if I can just clear the whole thing out, it might help.

But if someone could give me some direction as to what to buy, I think we are looking to spend under £80.

I was going to buy my own PC in the future anyways and give my laptop to her.
