Hi guys,

I've just bought a DFI Lanparty ULTRA-D to replace my MSI K8N NEO4, I didnt like the MSI, didnt like to run in DC with my ram, and I just dont really like them as a manufacturer much.

I am using a X2 4400+ CPU, and 2 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix 'Tracer' RAM.

I get crashes every so often which are memory related 'could not be read' that sorta thing, im fed up with it now, i've already RMA'd one stick a while back.

What is the BEST 2x1GB DC kit that I can get for the new motherboard? I most likely wont overclock much, if I do, it will be just to 2.6ghz speeds for the 4400+ X2 to match a 4800+ X2
So I want stableness as well.

Is the G.Skill 2GB DDR ZX PC3200 (2x1GB) CAS2 Dual Channel Kit better than my Ballistix and more reliable?

It was either that or maybe a Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2 XPERT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2

But they are more expensive.

Im hoping to make about £130 back on my Ballistix so what would you recommend guys?

*I need to order by 3pm* lol

Are you absolutely sure it's the RAM causing crashes? Because anything can cause those "memory cannot be read" messages, including processor erorrs, OS errors, viruses, bad power supplies... so don't rush out and buy memory.

You should post all your specs and settings, including temps and voltages for everything. Then run memtest86 and post the results of that.

Yes. The Ballistix weren't known for being reliable:) The Ultra-D is quite picky with RAM, have you updated the BIOS to the latest one?

Just out of interest, tonight I've realised one of my Patriot PDC2G3200LLK 1GB Ram sticks is the cause of recent crashing on my DFI Ultra-D.

On Friday night installed the new DFI 4.06 Bios. Immediately the PC can't even install into Windows, and continious BSOD appear. Tonight get the chance to run Memtest (v1.65 I beleive) and Errors appear on test 5 and 7 (pass1).

If I run the faulty stick on it's own I get the same issue, other stick runs fine on it's own in slot 2. Wierd thing is I've had the Memory since July last year (upgrade for BF2) and now it decides to die?! And to annoy me further the right arrow key on my keyboard is starting to go :(

Going to RMA both sticks and buy some cheapo 2x512 sticks for the meantime.
