Well, turned on my pc this morning to check email before work, and lo ad behold BSOD in my face.

It gets to the point where the logon box would normally pop up but instead, hangs there for a bit, flashes up an error screen uber quick and restarts.

After a few attempts i used my leet cs reactions to take a pic of the error.

Any ideas what it could be, i've recovery consoled all over the place to no avail, and googling didnt really get me anywhere. While booting my XP CD few times it has had a few randomn errors, to do with files. This leads me to believe perhaps my whole system is up the creek???

Any help MUCH appreciated!!

Looks like a damaged registry hive or boot up dll. Try putting your XP CD in then boot from it & do a repair to the installation.

If it cannot find your previous XP install then you may well have to re-install.

You can still preserve your existing HD data by just reinstalling onto the same partition without reformating. XP will put the new install in the windows.000 directory instead.

If you have installed the recover console then try both fixmbr & fixboot + chkdsk from the command console.

If none of these methods work then the HD may also be physically damaged in which case a delete partition + full format is required (you will lose everything on the HD if you do this).
