All,

1x Acer laptop is failing to boot into windows XP.

Was coming up to the XP logo with the progress loader on the bottom, then going to a blue screen then rebooting.

Now comes up NTLDR is missing or corrupt. Been into the Recovery console and done a fixboot and fixmbr to no avail.

If i look in diskpart i can see the volume there, with 7mb left of free space, but the partition is showing as FAT. Copied NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM to the C: drive, still no change.

Any ideas?

Okay,

Have now removed the disk from the laptop and inserted into a USB caddy.

Disk is viewable in My Computer but it only has the 2 files i copied to it plus BOOTEX.LOG. Drive is still showing at FAT file system.

Tried to convert the volume to NTFS (using convert.exe in DOS) but it says there isn't enough free space on the disk to do so.

Any ideas at all anyone? Please? :(
