I'm moving to the UK and I want to bring my PC tower. Can I just switch the voltage over to 220 on the back, and then get a power cord with a UK plug on the end? I think that should be fine right or will that not work?

Is there a way to find that out without opening up the case?

No, no need. If you say there's a switch on the back to change voltage then you'll be sorted with a UK kettle plug. Sorry, I mistook what you meant earlier by "switch" lol. If it brings a switch already, then great. :)

A few years back I brought the insides of my computer over in a suitcase, the PSU gave the homeland security bods a bit of a turn until someone with some common sense turned up. :D
As Danny75 said, all I had to do was push the selector switch from 110 to 220 and buy a new kettle lead.

My Linux box power supply switch reads "230".

The UK used to use 240V, and mainland Europe had 220V.

Many years ago this was standardised to 230V.

The important thing to note is that the permitted tolerances on mains voltage are fairly wide. We may all have standardised at 230V, but nothing actually changed. Within reason it doesn't really matter.
