US iPad in the UK

I'm off to America in a few weeks on business. If I buy a new iPad wifi + 3G and bring it home will it work if I put a uk SIM card in?

They should be 'world' devices. Check the cellular/mobile frenquency bands the US and UK uses and that should confirm it.

I don't know about iPads but with iPhones you shoudn't buy the Verizon ones as they work using CDMA not GSM.

Also just a warning the iPads with 3G/4G capabilities don't have international warranties.

The iPhone 5 doesn't have a CDMA only version, and the verizon supplied iPhone 5 is unlocked for GSM.

There's a T-Mobile and an AT&T/Verizon version of the iPad in the US with 3G/4G, you should double check first, but I believe the UK one is the same as the AT&T one, whereas a T-Mobile one has almost completely different radio bands in it.

Be warned, you may be advided by the sales rep that the AT&T ipad will not work with other providers as it is locked. This is not correct, many of the sales reps just are not trained to support exporting customers. Which is understandable. I had this problem in best buy. Plonked a O2 sim card in and it works fine. Good luck.

As others have said AT&T iPad, job done. Bare in mine that 4G will not work in the UK on any current iPad
