US Iphone in UK?

Hi guys,

My GFs mum is in the US at the moment, and is wanting to get an iphone for use over here....is it possible? Will it work on the O2 network?

No, the US iPhones are all locked to AT&T.

You can't unlock AT&T iPhones unless you go the jailbreak option.

the iphones are all AT&T exclusives and they dont sell an unlocked PAYG one there like they do here.

True, but im just thinking if it's his girlfriends mum, she probably isn't gonna be a geek like us lot and want to **** about jailbreaking it

Depends on the baseband out of the box. Most places suggest they all come with 02.10.04 which isn't yet unlockable.

I have a similar issue, I had an iPhone 4 in Mexico but can't use it over here. So it's sat being used as an iPod in my dock.
