US keyboard issue..

I have done a fresh install of XP on my laptop which had vista pre-loaded. But now all my '@'s are ' " 's ie the wrong way round.

Any ideas, how to fix this issue?

My control panel says i have a US language Unicode but wont let me change it as it says its unable to install the locale.. any ideas?

Yes thats where the Unicode bit is listed.

Location and Formats are set to UK.. Unicode is set to US.. but that's because i cant change it.

Anything else?

Have you tried to add a new language? Regional and Language Options>Language>Details>Add.

I have added UK but it always sayd US keyboard alyout. And there isnt a British or UK on the list.

Thats all the options i have.

Hmm this was an install of XP? Might be worth reinstalling.

have u tried deleting the us setting and enabling the uk

I have tried that.. and while you can install UK language setup you cant select UK keyboard layout. You can only select US international.

It was an Nlite version of XP which is what i'm thinking might be the issue, but i dont know what i did to modify the language options.

As i striped a lot of other stuff from standard OEM XP disc i got.

So it was an nLite version of XP. Would have helped to mention that earlier.

ITs ok i have fixed it.. I needed a missing DLL kbuk.dll which the nlite had removed. And some registry trickery and im all sorted

Congrats. How did you work out it was the kbuk.dll?
