We don’t know what intelligence the US had about the embassy attack and this guy. Think it’s hard for us to judge without knowing exactly what the top brass knew about the situation.

Is it? Its been common knowledge this guy has been behind proxy attacks for years. Obama chose not to take him out. Trump has taken him out. Time will tell which was the better call.

Why does the US always pull **** like this? They're like a ****** toddler with a box of ******* matches. So, what do you think will happen now, will the Iranians carry out their threats to shut the Straits of Hormuz? Will they actually go after US naval vessels in the gulf like they've also threatened to do in the past or will it be terrorist attacks on US targets around the world?

Personally, due to the nature of who they've just assassinated, I can see this escalating very quickly into something rather nasty.

Why did this man meddle in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and countless other tin pot hell holes..... Only so much the west will tolerate and its about time we shown some teeth. Do not forget he was also hated in in his country.

Same reason the British and Americans did in other middle east countries. The cold war never ended. The proxy sites just moved from South East Asia to the middle east. There's a reason Great Britain has strong diplomatic and military ties to Oman. And for the same reason the British government clutches to Gibraltar, the literal front door to the Med. It's all geopolitics.

People arent so much up in arms over a bad man being killed, more about what that means for the world and its consequences. Especially since taking this bad man out they took out a senior Iraqi war hero as well.

Bit of a drama llama thread title - killed, not murdered. As per the news article:

Also, do you really think Trump woke up one morning and fancied launching a drone attack? This would have been brought to his attention by his advisors, military leaders, intelligence agencies etc. Trump may have made the final call, but not without all options laid out to him and a preferred course of action offered.

It's about time we took the fight to them and not wait for attacks against us. Now let's hit the UAE where the terrorist cells are getting their funding from!!!

Is there any proof he was planning attacking American embassies?

I fully expect to see Johnson in his pants, riding a bike, wearing a pirate hat and wielding a wooden sword, cycling his way over there shouting "ill get the fuzzy wuzzys" and "they don't like it up'um"

A PM leading U.K. forces into battle would make a pleasant change from Blair and Cameron who were happy to stay home while they sent Britons to die for the cube root of sweet Fanny Adams.

I blame Obama. He should have known how much Trump hates him and would try and undo everything he did or take the opposite stance to him. So if Obama didn't try to bring Iran into the fold with the rest of EU via the nuclear deal then we would not be here now. He probably wasn't even born in the States. /s

I see people (not here specifically) going on about Republican warmongers and it's true, they do love a bit of a war... but so do a sizeable percentage of Dems.

Whilst the guy they've killed is without a doubt a wrongun it's a bit weird to say there is 'only so much the west will tolerate' when it was the west who started the tensions back in the 50's when the US and UK forced through a coupe which removed the democratically elected Iranian leader because he was going to nationalise irans oil... the US has been screwing them over ever since.

One of the few issues both sides agree on - excessive military spending and wars (for the most part).
