Its all a bit "No Middle Name" really (Jack Reacher) :p

I wish to create a Youtube channel using only a single name (The one that I have always used) and yet there doesn't seem to be any way of doing this.

A quick search suggests that I am by no means the only person having this problem.

For a long time I had problems using things like "Steam Shop" since my cc does not have a <First-Name>-<Last-Name> format until I realised that what I had to do was insert <Mr A B C> as my <First-Name>, which it isnt of course :p, but it satisfied the robot! Somehow I think the Google/Youtube issue isn't going to be as easy to resolve however. :(

Has anybody here found a way round this problem?

I'm confused as to what the problem is?

Usually Americans are obsessed with middle names and as soon as they realise I dont have a middle name they are shocked.

Because in almost every culture on the planet people have first name and last name.

Stop being difficult and trying to think companies are being difficult…the person here being difficult is you.

what is the problem tho?

you can't have a single word as your channel name on youtube? you used to be able to have a single name if that's the case now

or just when filling out your name in the 'details' (or whatever) section when signing up?

Yep, having just one name is not exactly conventional so you can't really be surprised that the majority of forms in the world are geared up for first name/second name.

Not sure what the US thing is referring to either, it's hardly a US specific thing to have a first name and a surname.

If you really want something to complain about in regards to YouTube, then look no further than their retarded search function. For a company that is owned by Google it's ******* abysmal.
