US PSP + UK PS3

I think i know the answer, but it never hurts to ask the experts

I have a UK PS3 and a US PSP (serial no 1001), and when i hook the PSP up to the PS3, the PS3 wont recognise it when i try and register the PSP - just keeps saying no PSP found.

Im guessing the two arnt compatible due to the region differences? and if so does anyone know of an easy fix (such as create a US ps3 account)?

They should be compitble, i have a Jap PSP and a US PS3 and they work fine.

Is this when you are doing the remote play setup? the part you need to hook up with a USB cable?

Yeah, the guide says enable ATRACS (spelling?) which ive done, then connect the PSP with the USB cable, then register the PSP with the ps3, but when i try that bit, it just keeps saying no PSP connected.

Im stumped....
