Am I correct in thinking that US sizes are bigger than UK ones when looking at clothing sizes ?

Yes, United States have vanity sizing most places, so:

UK Large = US Medium
UK Medium = US Small
etc.

Thanks mate :)

No problems. This is what I've found personally, but I also have it on the authority of a girl I know who designs clothes for some (huge) American chain stores.

DISCLAIMER: I suppose that sometimes it depends on the shop though. For example, some places might offer more fitted stuff. Best to double-check sizing guides on all sites.

That's generally what I find as well.

If I need a large shirt, I get an XL one in the States.
If you need a medium, get a large one.
