I plugged a US multibay hard drive enclosure (usb2) into a UK belkin UPS. i assumed it would work because of the kettle type fittings.. BANG!..

hopefully the product warrenty will have me covered.. hopefully..

I was wondering what device i would need if i tried the same setup again with a replacement enclosure? (i am currently searching for information on this although probably better to ask someone who knows for sure  )

I'm not sure you will get a replacement enclosure as you ruined it through user fault, still it's up to the company in question really ...you might get them on a good day :p

What you did was put 230v through a power adaptor designed for 110v ...hence the boom :p

pretty stupid huh?

i can't seem to find a travel adapter that has a kettle lead input and output that changes the voltage from us - uk, probably because i dont know the correct name? anyone know?

yeah this is for a replacement enclosure should they gimmie one :)

hmm say just the fuse went on the enclosure i have might it be possible to take it to a computer repair shop?

thanks anyone for any help
