USA UK price difference

I was in a big store today in USA, they have them in the uk so i wont mention the name, but they had the viewsonic 2235 for about $350, which is about £180 - £200. I have checked lots of uk sites, and cheapest i can find for UK is £320 ish.

Any reason the huge price difference, as its the same monitor, and would be perfect for me except i cant take it with me back to the UK. ARGH.

Any way i could get it over here for that price, or maybe ship it over?
 
yep that's the way it is :(

Watch out if you personally bring it back in luggage/shipping as the UK tax man will want his pound of flesh and you can end up not saving much adn jsut having warranty hassles !!
 
You could ship it over if the internal PSU accepts 230-240V.


But once you factor in shipping and Import tax and the shippers "admin fee" and the fact you wil have no warrenty in the uk its really not that cheap.
 
Actually from generalizations I have heard over the years the $-$, £-£ ratio for salaries compared to the price of goods is quite similar.

Aka Binman over here getting £18k a year, a similar Binman in the US would be on circa $18k a year. Like I said, just from reading many conversations on it but I believe that is a factor. I am generalizing too of course but you get the idea of what I am trying to get across lol ;).

That's true up to point, but it's not that simple. And with the £-$ exchange rate the way it is at the moment, it's very much in the favour of the US. I've quoted some prices of components here in the UK on US forums and there has been a general reaction of shock to what we pay.
