I recently purchased a 500gb (465gib) WD USB2.0 external drive with the intention of using it to transfer huge DV and HD video files after capturing from cameras between different machines.
My problem is that the various machines use different operating systems. So, I figured I would just format to fat32, and then both windows and osx would be able to write to the drive. Then someone reminded me of the 4GB filesize limit for fat32.. Bummer!, this renders the idea useless, because I'm dealing with 20-30gb files. Am I missing something really obvious?.

Ah, I neglected to mention my other problem :(.

I may not have the option to install additional software o the editing machines that I'm using (other than my home workstation).

Also, if I COULD. Do programs such as linked above slow the transfer process down terribly (over USB2)?.

Thanks for the reply chap :).

Well if you own the Mac and the rest of the machines are OS X then how about NTFS 3G Driver :) Haven't tried it but should work.

I own an XP machine, but I'll be using both apple and pc here and there (probably 8 machines fairly regularly). Seems the only solution will be software installs :).

Cheers for the help guys.
