please help... it seems that i am forever doomed not to get usb 2.9 on my system.

i got a new conroe build
6400, ds3 and a p160 case..

i installed the thing, started it up, installed slipstreamed winxp with sp2 and crit updates till 14/7/06

i then installed *** latest chipset drivers from gigabyte website, version 10.0..06 i think.

and i still get the message that your usb would work faster if you plug it into a usb .0 port.

i looked through my device manager and found that i have 5 usb host controller nad 2 usb2 host controller.

can someone please tell me how to enable usb 2 host controller on all of my ports.. i really have no idea what to do
thanks

Have you tried your BIOS?

Although I remember my friends computer had 8 usb ports, but only 4 were USB2.

Not saying this is the case for you though. Give the bios a whirl.

Or try reinstalling the drivers manually on device manager.

i tried that but i have no idea how to find and install the usb2 file.. i thought that the chipset installer or intel inf files would do the trick..
accordign to the device manager, i have 10 usb ports and 10 usb2 ports as well but i have no idea how to enable them..

could someone please let me know the step by steo instructions that you go through when you do a fresh install to get usb2.0

thanks

sorry to bump this again, but i would really appreciate any and all help that i can get solving this problem

edit: i googled abit and found that it happens when you have an usb device plugged in when you are installing windows..

now, is suing an usb mouse with a ps2 converter still classified as an usb device or would it be considered an ps2 device, cos i don;t really want to reinstall my system again

ok dood i get the same thing, here is how to solve it! go into device manager - scroll down to usb (at the bottom) - where it says standard usb controller right click on it and select update driver (allow it to connect through your net) and hey presto it should then update!

let me know how you get on

i tried that .. it didn;t work.. it said that it can;t detect a better match for the software..

i also tried using driver magician to find drivers for the cihpset but no luck as well
