Hi guys I have an Asus M3A79T-Deluxe

My usb 2.0 is maxing out at 26MBps, thats the utter max and it hardly stays there.

Currently I'm moving a lot of files from a hdd I upgraded and im seeing speeds of 16MBps-20MBps.

Now I know there are issues with 2.0 not giving the speeds it quotes but een this seems a little low. I was thinking I would get around 35MBps.

Is there a way to make it go faster, a driver or a setting anywhere?

I'm also playing with readyboost so things could be better with that too....

Thanks for any help TMS :)

thing is, 26MB/s is ~208Mb/s, considering that USB's "theoretical maximum" is 480, and USB has a HUGE amount of overhead, 210 seems pretty good.

high USB speeds are for burst read/write,
sustained speeds for large file transfer are a lot slower, as said speed your getting is good

I maxed out my external HDD @ 36.5mbps... for about 5 seconds.

It then dropped consistently to 21 :(

My external hard drive transfer speed was about 25Mbps. When copying 290GB worth of stuff, it takes an age. This is why I switched to eSATA!
