Hi all,
After recently putting together my new sff rig i hadn't noticed until recently that after installing all the drivers for my motherboard (ASUS M2NPV-VM AM2), that its coming up on the screen that i should update to the faster drivers and select a different port for my usb storage device ( Freecom 400gb) which is 1.1 & 2.0 compatible. I installed with o/s xp then updated to SP2 which states the drivers are already installed even downloaded off of the M/S website and you guessed it also states there installed. I installed the USB 2.0 drivers off the ASUS M2NPV-VM AM2 disc supplied just wondering why its saying that there not installed??

Sorry prob sounds like a stupid question just never encountered this before, built 2 rigs before and never experienced it any suggestions??

Thanks Oggy

have you checked the bios to make sure usb2 is enabled in there? i would have thought it would be by default, but i don't know what else to suggest... :p

Depends on the chipset, I had one once which I had to go into device manager and update drivers on the usb to install vers 2 usb. Could be worth a try.

You need to install the drivers after SP2 in some cases, so a reinstall of the drivers should solve the problem.

Of course in future the easiest way to prevent this is to create a SP2 slipstreamed disk of XP.

yup

slipstream sp2 into your xp disc and create a new disc, then install with that
