USB 3.0 external backup drive?

As above, looking to replace my Seagate one for a 2 or 3 TB drive just wondering what you guys are using, has to be usb 3 for backing up and mac compatible.

A western digtail studio one arrived on my desk at work by mistake, it was rapid and I tempted to get one for myself for home use. It was one the 1TB version as physical size was a factor. It was swapped for one with two 800 firewire and usb 2.0 as that was the one I actually wanted for the purpose I needed it for. Well worth looking into, build is top grade being metal, self powered and there is a 3/4 TB version but not in 2.5 inch format.

Do the non-mac version of the Western Digital support USB 3? or do you have to buy the Mac versions, as they seem to be on Apples site but listed as USB 2 only ?
