need at least 9 port usb 3.0 hub that can be switched on or off, for external hard drives. My computer has the ports , but gets boot manager error so that's why i have to use a 2.0 hub that has its own power switch . Anyway im struggling to find one so any help would be appreciated

gets a book mnager error? Sounds like your bios is setup to boot from removable disk before the internal one. Go into your bios, set it to boot from your internal HDD/SSD first, other things after.

Then try it with the hub turned on. If it works, you no longer need one with a switch on it

is it mainly the initial power on you get the error? maybe the usb drives havent had time to spin up to be detected by the bios, some bioses will give an option to extend the process by a few secs might be worth a try

but need at least 9 ports for drives

5 but i like to have the slack, of extra slots, and its after bios screen it goes to load windows but with drives powered up i get boot manager error instead

is the bios detecting the other drives when you choose your boot order?
Where is "removeable disk" or "external drive" is your boot order?
It is an issue with the board, does it happen with a USB key plugged in?
If its a UEFI bios, you havent got UEFI whatever set first?
If you just have "hard disk" as your first boot item, within that item, you need to make sure that the SSD is first.

If however, the bios isn't picking up the drives, then it could be more of a problem, since it would mean they are being detected afterward, and then inserting themselves higher up in the boot order...

If you press f8 during boot to get the boot device pop up, what order do the items show up in?

I have many systems that I manage, and have different external drives via usb 2 and 3, and the only time this happens is when the boot order is incorrect.

not overly technically minded. I set the samsung HD as first in the boot order. The usb stick is not typically in unless needed. As for the rest ill tell you when i get the system back for the 3rd time. Damn Graphics card has gone faulty
