Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has tried USB3 on one of the Asus motherboards? They all seem to use the same chipsets being an NEC Renesas 7000 series but mine isn't playing ball.
USB3 is enabled in the BIOS and showing up in device manager. I have installed the NEC drivers from the ASUS website and also tried some newer ones. I have also tried updating the firmware to the latest version.
If I connect up my USB3 external HDD (I have 3, Verbatim, WD and a Samsung F4 in a USB3 enclosure) with the drivers installed I get nothing. No drive in storage manager, my computer, device manager, NOTHING.
If I remove the driver, or even just disable it in device manager the drive immediatley comes alive albeit at USB2 speeds.
HDD is always plugged into the blue USB3 port using a blue USB3 cable (tried three different USB3 cables). I have no issues using the USB2 ports though.
This is very weird!!
It's not the USB3 drives as I can't believe all three would have problems. Looks like something to do with the motherboard.
I have even tried installing Service Pack 1 RTM as I heard that has some USB3 upgrades but still have the problem.
any ideas?
Thanks!!
