I thinking of getting a Gigabyte Ga-p67-ud5-b3 motherboard with a 2600k processor do i need to worry about compatibility with a case. The motherboard has i think 2 usb 3.0 ports. Will i be able to access the usb 3.0's from the front.

Case i was thinking about getting - coolermaster 690 ii

In order to access the USB 3.0 ports you'll need a case fitted with the appropriate ports and which has a cable to fit the header on the motherboard.

The HAF-X, for example, has USB 3.0 ports on the front of the case but because the standard for the USB 3.0 header hadn't been finalised when the case was designed the cables used to connect those ports have themselves to be plugged into a USB 3.0 port and not into a header on the motherboard.

No doubt the cables will be changed at some point now that a standard has been agreed.

You need a case which has front mounted USB 3.0 ports and a connecting cable which fits into this header on the motherboard. Like this:

Not sure if there are any yet.
