I have a HP Envy laptop coming that I picked up on the bay that has a USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 on it.

I see a lot allow charging of the device over these Type-C ports. Is this the standard on all devices?

Also I have a LG OLED 4K tv that I want to output 4K 60hz to. I know the HDMI port cannot do 60hz.

Am I right in thinking I can use a adaptor of some sort to get that working from the Type-C port?

Thanks.

Sadly charging over USB-C isn't standard. My Asus ultrabook doesn't support it even though its nearest models do.

But you should be able to support 4k60 via an adapter - however it probably won't be one of the cheap ones. A dock might do it, ideally one with DisplayPort. Do your research thoroughly before buying as being stuck at 30Hz isn't fun.

You'd probably only get 4K30Hz - to get 60Hz really you need a device that has Thunderbolt 3 support and a TB3 to DP/HDMI adaptor.
