USB Boot disk

Hi

I'm creating a USB boot disk. I've formatted the USB, done Diskpart and Bootsect but is it ok to then just copy and past all the Win 7 files onto the USB or do I have to create a ISO file to put on the USB?

do you have the ISO file for W7?

you can use Rufus if you do which will burn the ISO to the USB stick and do everything to make it bootable.

2nd for Rufus - does all the work! - worked a treat for a UEFI BIOS install from a Win 7 DVD (had to create an iso from the DVD).

Yea, I have an original retail Win 7 64 professional. I was just following a guide but got a bit confused when it said extract the win 7 files to a folder and then copy the files to the USB. I did see Rufus so I'll give that's go.

Microsoft also have a tool:

haven't tried it though, as tend to use rufus which works for everything
