Vodaphone: Top up doesnt expire. 1gb costs £15 / 1gb / lasts until used (Must use it once every 90 days)
Virgin: Just got it, seems pretty quick.
You can actually mod these so it isnt on three anymore, get yourself an iphone sim on 02, put £10 on it and you'll have unlimited inet for a year ( usually lasts about 9 months)
Ive tried vodafone and t-mobile, t-mob has knocked voda into the last century (tho in ym case both are using integrated wwan on ericson card) - interesting pricing also, pay for a day, week or month at a time.
Where are you going? The first thing you would need to do is take a look at mobile broadband coverage for where you'll be using the service most. If you're going to the countryside, you may well find you aren't in a 3G area.
I have Vodafone Mobile Broadband and it's good in their 3G areas, but I have been in the countryside where no coverage was available.
