usb C adaptor for Imac M1

I dont want to order the wrong adaptor so for the new M1 macs should I be looking at USB C adaptors ?

Im wanting something that will allow me to use a couple of USB A HDD's, an SD card reader and a couple or so more usb C inputs.I wouldnt use an HDMI input or ethernet.

Could grab yourself a usb c dock, lots available from regular places online, range in price, £20 upwards etc.

If for example I bought a lacie ext Hard drive for the new imac M1 do I order usb c version and not the Usb3?)hard drive that is....

Usb-C would be faster when you are using it with your iMac however if you ever needed to use the external drive on another PC etc just bear in mind you are reliant on that other PC having a USB-C port. Maybe something to consider
