USB-C Front panel power surge warning

The initial windows popup states that that "Unknown USB device needs more power than the port can supply" - It's just my Steelseries wireless dongle.

Z790 Dark Hero with an Lian Li O11D XL case. I've tried with and without the additional 8pin for the header, but I keep getting this warning. Tried reseating the cable. Is this more likely to be a dodgy case cable issue, or a motherboard header issue? Dongle works fine on the rear USB-C ports, so it's not that. Anyone had this before and actually fixed it?

Thanks Mav. I've reseated it a few times now but I guess another try can't hurt. Might actually just get the cable fully out and see if there's anything untoward happening anywhere.

Well, that would suck if that's the case! I'll try more fiddling with the cable and if not accept that it's not going to work. Definitely can't be bothered running the ASUS RMA gauntlet (or stripping the computer down) for it.

Ah well - Adapter installed, still the same error. Tried a few reseats of both cables whilst I was there with the same result. Think I can safely point the finger at the motherboard.

This is only the front panel USB-C header. I don't believe there's more than one on this board? All of the rear ports work fine. Unless I'm misunderstanding your suggestion. I'll likely just get a hub and plug it into the rear if I want easier desk access to a USB-C port.
