I'll start by stating what I want to achieve.
I have a radeon HD7950 that I want to connect to a 1440p 144hz monitor using mini-dp, via HDMI it gives only 70hz. Hence I want to connect using mini displayport instead (don't have a cable currently) to give higher refresh rate. I does not have a normal displayport port.
I also have a Dell Latitude 7480 laptop which has the same issue over HDMI, 70hz max. Hence I want to connect using USB-C port which is wired for Displayport also apparently. Again there is no standard displayport port.
My question is, what cable to I need to buy to enable both of these use cases (I would not typically need to do both simulltaneously)? Do I get a USB-C to Displayport cable, or a Mini-DP to Display port cable? I don't want to buy a cable and find it only works with one use case and not the other (unless this is unavoidable).
TIA.
