USB C port connect/Disconnect Issue MSI B450M MORTAR MAX

Thought I would buy a USB-C to USB-C cable to take advantage of the port on the new motherboard but when I connect phone to the cable I am getting a continuous connect/disconnect notification.
Am I missing something here?

Is it the board in your sig?

Have you tried updating to the lastest bios?

Yes it is the board in my signature and I updated to the latest BIOs as soon as I installed the board.

Do you have any other PCs with USB-C to test the cable, or even another cable?

I noticed some of my older C to C cables started to wear down where it wouldn't grip the port as strong any longer so had to replace it with better quality ones.
