USB capture Pen thing

Would a tablet not suffice? Why do you have to be able to write on anything?
 
are you looking for a specific purpose?

if it were me i would probo take the thing apart, it probably relies on some signaling device that knows its position relative to the sensor IR or RF. id take that and strap it to another pen which would fill the roll of what i am looking for, eg board marker. it would still need the reader there though, mabey add suckers or magnets to it :)
