USB Card Not Starting Up Properly

It is most likely the card going bad but thought I’d throw the question out there in case anyone has seen similar.

It is a cheap 4-socket USB expansion card (plugs into a PCI socket).

Had it about 4 months now. Didn’t have any issues initially but recently it doesn’t seem to be starting up properly. I have an XBox One wired controller left permanently plugged into it.

Quite often (but not always) when I power the PC up the controller does not work. Unplugging it and then plugging it back in always solves the problem and after that it works flawlessly until the computer is turned off and then next turned on.

Same on all sockets on the expansion board. Unplugging it and plugging back into the same or different ports always resolves the problem. Tried different USB devices and get the same problem - so definitely something to do with the card or driver.

It’s not a huge inconvenience and even if it were it’s less than a tenner for a replacement.

Just wondered whether anyone has seen something similar and knows what is causing it.

Cheers,

Nigel
