Would be used for PC looking at the Chord and seeing its not really ideal for PC use. High res support would be good to

By what method does the base transmit to the headphones?

I can see there is a 3.5mm jack in on the base, but it must convert that to a digital signal.

There's no need for any headphone amplifier for them.
That's built into receiver part in headphones.
Transmitter base takes standard line level stereo signal.

Even that analog input has its signal going to ADC for transmitting it digitally.
(higher end models have also direct digital input)

Only possible thing where you need more than standard digital to analog conversion source is if you want binaural simulation for games.

By what method does the base transmit to the headphones?
Earlier Sennheiser used Kleer's tech (up to 4 headphones to same transmitter) but now it's their own proprietary 2,4 GHz link.

Another happy Schiit stack ( Modi/Vali ) owner here.

If you just want a single box solution then the Audioengine D1 looks decent ( i've not tried it personally )

Are Schiit American i have seen many posts on the forum of many using the Schiit and been pleased with the performance i think ill keep my musical fidelity v90. As EsaT says i don't need headphone amp for my headphones so im ok at the moment but ill keep them in mind thanks chaps
