I've been given a pc to look at and one of the problems with it is that it is coming up with this while the computer is idle or active seemingly randomly.

There is a usb keyboard and mouse, and a pda cradle connected. Since the pda cradle is not an active usb device I have ruled that out for now. Obviously I have to have a keyboard and mouse connected, so is my next step to disable usb ports in device manager one by one until the problem goes away or is there another fix to this problem?

first thing i'd try is to use the mouse and keyboard using the old ps2 connectors. there are usb to ps2 adaptors available if you don't have any.

Why rule out the cradle without testing it? Yes it is not active until a PDA is inserted, but the wire is still connected to the pins of the USB port, and if there was a short or something in the cradle, the data lines could be shorting to the 5V line, and this could cause the issue.

Microsoft knowledge base gives a possible answer. Try swapping the configuration of USB devices connected to each controller.

Also make sure you have the latest service pack and Windows updates.

One thing that does confuse me is the extra Fs in the addresses. Is this XP or Vista, because XP definately shouldn't look like that. Can't remember what Vista BSOD looks like.
