Did some tweaking to my Ryzen 7 overclock this morning. Changed to pstate overclocking, and also bumped my 3000mhz Corsair LPX to 3200mhz by loosening timings.
I've discovered that after doing this, I now randomly hear the "USB device connected" sound. You know sound that Windows 10 plays when you connect a USB device.
I'll hear this sound at completely random intervals when doing anything on my computer.
Any ideas whats causing this? I'm assuming its got something to do with my OC settings since it was fine before I overclocked my memory to 3200mhz...

ok I've discovered that its not my overclock causing this issue as its doing it when I revert back to defaults. It looks like it's started doing it ever since I installed the Windows 10 Creators update....

Funny you should mention this.

Since I performed the creators update on my gaming rig I now have an icon in the taskbar for "Remove USB device" turns out tis my Logitech USB headphones
After you mentioned it, I have turned windows sounds back on.
Your right, once approx. every 20 mins, either thou the headset does not cut out at any point during the noises it seems to disconnect and re connect
Creeepy...

Glad its not just me having this issue then.
What I don't understand though, is if it's a USB device that "disconnecting and reconnecting" like you say, how come (in my case) nothing shows up in the USB event logger?

Until more light gets shed on this problem, i've disabled the offending sound in the Windows sound options.

Also while you have the sounds enabled. Try playing some games. When im playing Overwatch, the sound seems to happen very frequently. At least once every minute or 2.
