I have just bought myself a new pc case...everything is working fine...except the front two USB ports

When I plug any USB device into them, it comes up with this message in the taskbar...

I then click the message to see what happens and this box then comes up...

I have tried reconnecting the device 2 or 3 times and still the same problem!

I have also tried the devices on other pc's in my house and they work.

PLEASE HELP ME :(

thanks in advance, Steve :)

I dont know, on my other usb ports on the m/board they work, its just these 2.

These are not on the m/board, these are just linked to the m/board and these came with the pc case...

any more ideas? :(

do not plug them in any more.check mb manual for the orientation of the conectors(mb). then compare that to the usb wires on the case.As sometimes older cases can be only usb 1 compliant and mb might be usb2?

case closed, im sure its a dead flash drive :(

i was displaying that message and now it doesnt, so it was on its way to dieing

i toasted a flash drive after doing exactly the same thing, (which is why i recommend you do a check) if that wasnt enough i then went on to toast my logitech mx700 in the same way<<durr(to be sure it was the MB wrecking my nice hardware)

not every " standard " set of wires you hold will necessarily fit exactly power to power,on the motherboard, in the same way.Youll have to check.

The onboard usb will be fine, and the "dodgy" one wil be ok, when you figure out which connectors are which on the mb,untill then...but yeah its probably as you said

Both USB ports work perfectly :)

I wired them up wrong I'm sure...now its onto buying a new flash drive off eBay!

Good job I had finished my A Levels!

Mine had all my work on it! *PHEW*

Steve :)
