USB devices not working upon bootup?

Hi all,

I'm struggling with a new build that has just been made yesterday. The problem I am having is intermittent USB device failure upon booting up. It doesn't happen every time but pretty frequently (2-3 times today already while I've been testing / trying to fix). When it does this, it boots into windows fine and you can even see the background is still changing, it doesnt appear to have crashed but no usb devices seem to work at all. If i reboot it, it'll likely be fine! but then if i reboot it a few more times i'll no doubt get the same issue again.

Is it possible the motherboard is faulty? or is it more likely to be driver related? actually, could it even be ram related? as i say, its a new build/fresh install from yesterday.

Any help very appreciated! :D specs are below

Specs
H110I Plus D3 Intel H110 (Socket 1151)
i3-6100
8gb ram
Corsair 400w

Have you installed the USB drivers ? have you installed the latest Intel Chipset drivers ? Are the devices USB2 or USB3 and are they plugged into USB2 or USB3 ports ?

Suggest you confirm this and then go get the latest USB 3 drivers from the Intel website or alternatively go to the download centre, download the Intel Update software and do a scan so it detects any missing drivers.

Also try Windows Power Options > Change when computer sleeps > Change advanced power settings > USB settings > USB selective suspend setting > Disabled

Hi there! Just reporting back!

I'm not absolutely 100% sure until I turn it on and off more times yet but I am reasonably confident now that a dodgy stick of ram was the culprit! :D thanks for the suggestions all

I will post back again to confirm in case it helps someone else in the future.
