usb dongle & data

I have a USB dongle which stores an activation code for software we use at work. I am looking to back up this dongle on another one but issue I have is that this dongle does not show up under MY COMPUTER. Is there any way I can access the files on this dongle and hence copy them to get a backup?

That's the point of activation dongles - One license, one use no?

Oh and I broke one worth £2k last year, had to grovel and send the old one back to get a replacement

even though paperwork says it allows me installs on multiple pcs etc?

With the one donge plugged it, so one instance over several PCs yeah

i think i have to have the dongle plugged into whichever pc i want to use.
dongle stores licencing info but software is installed on whichever pc i want to use
