Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could advise me on my current problem. I have a new mp3 player, Creative Zen Touch 20 gig. It is not detected by my pc even with all the latest drivers/firmware etc for it.

Creative tech support say i should check my device manager to make sure all my USB connection drivers are ok. NOW... i did check the stick at the top of the page and did this:

"If you're having problems with a certain USB device, the problem probably lies within the connection and not the device itself.

Check the device managar to see if the USB controller is properly installed. If there's no mention of USB in device manager, check your BIOS to see if it's enabled.

Re-installing your USB controller can often clear glitches with USB devices. To do this follow these steps:
1. Open up the control panel and select performance and maintanence. Now select system and open the system properties dialog and move to the hardware tab. This is where USB problems can be sorted out.
2. Click device managr and scroll down to Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Expand this entry so that you can see each USB controller installed on your system. We need to uninstall these before we can reinstall them.
3. Right-click each of the USB controllers and choose uninstall. Once complete, reboot your PC and reinstall the USB controllersas your system detects them. Now plug in a USB device to see if the problem has been cleared.
"

Rebooted. It started to look for drivers, great i thought. However when it came to the USB controller it asked me to find the driver. So i'm still stuck at square one.

Running XP on Asus A8N-E, amd xp3800, 1gig ddr 400, 6600gt, 160 gig sata hd.

In device manager under Universal Serial Bus Controllers all is fine but in my list prior to this is Other Device>Universal Serial Bus Controller. This however has a question mark and states driver not installed. So should i have 2 different drivers? Sorry for lameness in lack of knowledge.

Any help much appreciated. All mobo drivers upto date etc.

EDIT - All other USB connected items, Mouse and DSL connection work fine so i don't understand why 2 of the 3 usb devices work and not the 3rd

Thanks in advance

Could be, I work as a IT Technician and have had it happen before. If you don't want to install SP2 see if you can grab the USB 2.0 patch off the internet.

Thanks for your help. Now again excuse my ignorance, are all the usb2.0 drivers generic, i have downloaded a VIA USB 2.0 driver. Would this be ok for me? I checked ASUS site but nothing really struck me as what i wanted.

Thanks
