Is there anyway to make a USB disk appear on the desktop in XP in a similar way that they do on OSX?

Have googled but cna't find anything that would do the job!

You could just create a shortcut to that drive but, It would show even when the drive was unplugged.
I'm sure someone like Bledd could give you a better way to do it.

i'll reply since i seem to have been summoned :p

i've never tried to do this, so don't know what to suggest, i'll ask on msfn tho

answer i got from msfn..

Well... a work around with AveDesk would be to manually assign a drive letter to your USB drive - let's say it's X:.

Now you make a PidlShortcut that points to X:. There's an option to hide the desklet when it's not connected.

Note - you'll have to disable the automounter addin to not get the CD drives to work.
