Anyone know how these effect your USB speed? if they even do? thinking of getting 2-5meter one for connecting up an e-drumkit to my pc to trigger drum software so ideally I don't want to add in any kind of delay or anything by a cheap cable or if its too long.

Can you buy any old usb ext cable or should I go branded? some really cheap ones on ebay.

Thanks

I have used one of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-077-OK&groupid=1929&catid=543&subcat=in the past without any problem. Certainly cheap enough to just give it a go.

Do not get that cable. Its a Male-Male cable, not a Male-Female (Extension) Cable. Try one or 2 of these instead http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-091-OK&groupid=1929&catid=543&subcat=

Its USB 3.0 too, so future proof!

Obviously it goes without saying to choose a long enough lead with appropriate male or female connections. The point I was making is that I have extended an existing USB extension lead by a further 5m using the Male to Male lead I referenced.

i have been useing 5m extensions on both my rigs for about six months after moving house. i cant see any change in speed or charging speed so its fine :)
