Sup,

Ive got a Gigabyte EP43T-USB board, all built nice and stuff... But am havin some major errors with USB Host Controllers.

So it goes like this... I have 6 USB 2 ports, and 2 USB 3 ports on the back. I have 2 front USB ports from an internal header. If i let windows scan for hardware changes, none the internal headers will pick up anythin bigger than 64mb (that i know of), and i lose 2 of the rear USB 2 ports with the same issue. All the USB3 ports stay good, with them being of the NEC chips. I wasnt happy with this, so went for a nosey around Device Manager. In the host controllers, I have 6 controllers that end in 3A3X, where X is a number, and 2 where X is a letter, A or C. Now... If i remove those two controllers, (A and C) I get all my usb ports back, but they only work at <1MB/s. Wtf?

Ooookk I scan for changes agian, and Windows picks up the 2 controllers that I removed. It restores the speed in the ports that work, but I lose all the ports i lost in the first place!

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any ideas on just what the hell is going on??

Thanks

I don't know what vintage the board is - but I have an older board and ever since one of the XP service packs was installed the USB ports are "dodgy" - particularly they don't like things plugged in during booting.
