Iam after a USB hub that will just sit on my deak and I will connect my devices to it that way. Anyone have any fancy ones they can recommend? :D

Some are passive - avoid them. The socket can supply 500mA max, but with a 7 way hub, that could potentially pull more than 3.5A...... bad times.

In theory you'd mosy likely be OK with things like mice and keyboards plugged in but go over that 500mA allowance and everything could stop, or you get random issues.
Powered is definately the way to go.

I use one of these and to be honest, it's fab. As Pete says, avoid non-powered like the plague - they're all rubbish unless you have an old dog laptop with only one USB port and you want to plug in a USB mouse and keyboard etc. This one is excellent - does what it says on the box etc and has 7 ports. It even has a pass-through for your audio connections so you can plug headphones and mic in from your desktop which I find useful. Looks pretty cool too ;)

Hope this helps..

I picked up a 7 port powered hub from an auction site for £11. Feels a bit cheap and plasticky, but does the job.
