So finally got my hands on the rift but it seems my mobo has the incompatible usb 3.0 ports.

any help on what to do and my options pls

Are all your ports incompatible? Try the headset in one port and the sensors in the USB 2.0 ports and see what happens.

If that doesn't work, check to see if your motherboard has any spare PCIe slots. If it does, buy the Inatek 4 port USB 3.0 to PCIe adapter card. It costs about £20.

I'm just installing a 4 port Inateck card now.
Does it need one or two sata power cables to power it?

the headset works in usb 3.0 port but sensors don't but they will work in my usb 2.0 ports, but sometimes they work and other times I get poor tracking quality.

I have ordered the inatek hub. Originally bought a dynamode one from a competitor as I wanted it same day but doesn't seem to work.

Thanks melmac. Just one is better for cable management :)
(wasn't sure as the included cable is two satas to one)

Cable management, the bane of my life. I setup my new case with everything and tidied away all the cables. Looked amazing. Then I realised I had no power in the Inatek card. I had every other power plug used, so I needed to add another cable with 3 plugs to my modular power supply.

Have plugged in the sensor and headset into the Inateck usb card, the sensor is detected as usb 3 but the headset only usb 2 (these are the only two things plugged into the card at the moment but I plan to try the 2nd sensor with it too).

Decided to just use the thing rather than obsess with the setup detail (although I have managed to install another sata cable rather neatly) and... it works really well, I’m impressed with the room scale experience that you get from just one sensor (no touch controllers on just one sensor, so I still have that to look forward to). I didn’t expect to be able to look all the way behind me.
