How bright are USB lights? Would like one to point down onto my keyboard to illuminate the keys. Would a USB light light up the width of the keyboard?

i got one free with pczone at some point last year, it was fairly powerful. It should probably iluminate your keyboard enough to read it.

I tried using 1 for lighting up my keyboard but it was poor. Light patterns more of a spot than a spread over the keys, and the shadows from your hands blocks out a lot of the light.
Just do what I did and get a Saitek Eclipse. Best keyboard I've owned, even without the lights :D

There is one I've seen that is good... It's a mini-CC mounted in a little stand.
Would be perfect for lighting up a keyboard. (If you don't have a Saitek / Logitech G15)

No-idea where to get them, but my mate who has one advised that they aare fairly cheap. (Like around £5~10)

When playing games, I turn the lights down to low to get a better gaming effect.
Indeed. AVP, Doom3 etc... When a beastie jums out in front of you and you poop it. :D
(Or the curtains move behind you and you turn round, wide eyed. :D )

Gaming in darkness = Only thing in your vision is the monitor - Much more immersive.
Which is also why a Logitech G15/Saitek would be better IMHO - Less light/distraction whilst stil being able to see the keys. :)

Not paying £52 for a blooming keyboard
Cherry suits me fine, just would like some illumination...probably just get a 5w small desk lamp.

Get 2 of the USB lights and loop them over the top of the monitor.....the beasties are watching you!! :D

But yeah, my gf has a USB light or her laptop for working in poor light, it does help, but doesn't, sadly illuminate the entire lappy kb :(
